Description:
This replaces the generic low quality default sound files with higher quality ones. Will also fix sound syncing problems with the default weapons. This is a port of Improved Sound Effects for SoC & Clear Sky. Files have been properly commented

Replaced sounds to:
-All weapon fire sounds certain reload sounds
-Bullet whine and impact
-Interface
-Detectors/PDA
-Actor footstep and death
-ragdoll
-Some Ambient Background
-Barrel and metal box physics
-RPG Rockets and Explosions
-Heli explosion, rockets, and gunfire

open fsgame in the Call of Pripyat folder
check if game_data reads true for both if not change false to true

Extract gamedata folder into:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat
Replace if necessary

Two methods to install this:
A) This will overwrite other weapon configs, use if you donât use them:
Extract configs folder into:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyatgamedataconfigsweapons
Yes to replace

B) This will require that you open those files and make changes to the lines. But will not change the other weapon config besides the sound.

If you donât have a file in your gamedata you can just extract the missing weapon cofig file from the mod.
If you don't want to do all of this you can just install the sounds folder. I do recommand installing/changing w_pkm, w_rg6, w_wincheaster1300, W_f1.

Finally!!! i really cant stand the sound effects of stock CoP, not all, but most the weapons sound really... 'pa pa pa pa' if that makes any sense.

reminds me too much of Clear Sky and i hate clear sky, feels like its Stalker for Consoles >_>

downloading now, looking forward to using them. cheers.

Seems like a good mod, though I've not used it extensively. I noticed right off the bat the 1911 had the wrong sound for firing. I went into the gamedata/configs/weapons opened w_colt1911 and changed this line:

= weaponsdd_colt_reload, 0.8
to this:

= weaponsn_colt1911_shot, 0.8

(basically it was pointing to the reload sound to shoot.

thanks ill be adding this to the next update along with other bug fixes such as pistol draw alerting everyone. silencers not being as silent to the AI and some new sounds for certain weapons. I'm going to be re commenting most of the sounds to fit better with Call of Pripyat.

snd_reload = weapons/dd_pkm_reload

Unfortunately, the file dd_pkm_reload does not exist in the sound folder of the zip file, so the game crashes and says that it cannot read the file. Instead, the file is called "pkm_reload.ogg" and you may wish to correct your suggested edits to reflect this in both your readme and this page. I just deleted the dd_ from the config file edits that you suggested and everything works perfectly.

I'm really enjoying the sound changes that you've made, it serves to make the game that much more immersive.

One final bit: since playing Shadow of Chernobyl, I've wanted the rain sound effects to reflect the hood/helmet/whatever on your head. I'm an Elk hunter, and liken my STALKER gaming to this, but I really feel like I'm missing the sound of rain bouncing off of my hood. I just feel that the rain effects of Call of Pripyat are atrocious. Now, I'm not sure if you're the one that created this mod, or you simply ported it to CoP, but I'd love to hear a rain sound overhaul. I want to hear my boots squishing in the mud of the swamp and the sound of pouring rain partially obscuring that rustle in the bushes behind me. In any case, I really appreciate the work you've put into making this mod, thanks!

Version update, mostly fixing issues:

Redone most sound file comments which resulted in AI detection range tweaks
Switching weapons or equipment can now be detected by AI in close range (was disabled by default)
Increased volume of Bullet impact, contact beep and footsteps. (not AI related)
Changed gunshots of Groza and Abakan
Add new Eliminator and silencer gunshots
Fix some config issues

I've uploaded a old version of the read me which is why pkm was in there but it was suppose to be for clear sky.

Yea I'm the original creator of this mod. Most of the sounds and configs are the same as Clear Sky so it was simply ported. I'll be looking into your suggestions in the next update, thanks big grin
