Quote: The original Shadow of Chernobyl was an incredible game in many ways, offering players an opportunity to explore an exceptionally realized, radiation-blasted setting seeded with horror and entertainment. Yet it was also lacking in a few areas, one being polish, and another being a solid character progression infrastructure. With Call of Pripyat, GSC Game World delivers its most stable and playable version of the Zone yet. Though it's not quite as surprising as the original, it's still a standout game that deserves to be given a chance by anyone that reads this. There aren't many titles able to offer up such an affecting atmosphere mixed with enjoyable mechanics, and even if some bits of the game remain uneven, it's an experience that will stick with you long after it's over.
They gave Call or Pripyat a 8.2 rating of "Impressive".

Quote: I'm not ashamed to admit that I uttered some unprintable expletives after S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat unceremoniously dumped me into the ominous-as-ever Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. I've been here before, I should be immune to the moans, growls and Geiger counter bleeps. But in the pantheon of protagonist stalkers, Major Alexander Degtyarev draws the short straw: After a short introductory video explaining the failure of the military operation "Fairway" -- an attempted air incursion into the center of the Zone -- Degtyarev is dumped into the unforgiving wilderness with nothing but guns, some rations, and a bit of anti-radiation medication. Oh, f**k.
Unfortunately, the survivalist part of this horror game doesn't last very long. Stalkers, bandits, mutants, and mercenaries die just the same when confronted by the Zone's hyperactive immune system. Way-too-frequent emissions -- world-purging belches from the Chernobyl power plant -- leave the Zone so littered with corpses that scrounging up gear is a non-issue, to say the least. Every day brings dozens of new dead, if you're willing to seek them out, and nabbing their gear negates the whole "man against nature" pretense.
The guys over at GameSpy have reviewed Call of Pripyat and given it a respectable 4 out of 5 stars.

| | STALKER: Call of Pripyat Review by bit-tech - Reviews Posted by: FFxSTALKERx on 02-04-2010 @ 10:47 | | This News Item has been viewed 520 times! They guys over at bit-tech.net have reviewed the English version of Call of Pripyat.
Quote: STALKER: Call of Pripyat has a lot of problems, many of which are shared with earlier games in the series, and which will seriously impact on how enjoyable the game is for you. For all it’s faults though, Call of Pripyat is still easily the best STALKER game yet, and improves on every previous iteration in terms of quality and scope.
It may not be a game we can simply recommend to all readers, but if you liked the previous games or don’t mind putting up with frustrating design oversights in order to get at the strangely compelling (and just downright strange) fiction, then Call of Pripyat is a game that really delivers.
They gave it a 7/10.

| | Call of Pripyat GameSpot Review! - Reviews Posted by: FFxSTALKERx on 02-03-2010 @ 11:28 | | This News Item has been viewed 709 times! The gents over at GameSpot have reviewed the English version of Call of Pripyat!!
Quote: Like its predecessors, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is all about stretches of chilling stillness and thick dread, punctuated by the tense thrills of menacing mutants and the rush of discovery. If you've played either of the first two games of the series, you know that The Zone is a harsh mistress, and exploring it requires patience, thoughtful planning, and plenty of ammo. But it's also erupting with rewards as long as you know where to look. This shooter/role-playing hybrid oozes ambience by the bucketful, whether you're traversing marshes or skulking through dark crevasses, and the dread that accumulates makes encounters with all sorts of grotesque freaks feel all the more suspenseful. These compelling moments don't inspire every aspect of the game, however. The story does little to draw you in until the final hours, and the visuals are showing their age despite some welcome improvements to the graphics engine. But Call of Pripyat is an excellent return to form after the uncomfortably buggy, awkwardly paced Clear Sky. Prepare, once again, to face impossible odds as you trudge your way across one of the planet's most dangerous expanses.
They gave it a highly respectable 8/10

| | S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat Hits Stores Today in North America! - Official News Posted by: FFxSTALKERx on 02-02-2010 @ 14:54 | | This News Item has been viewed 865 times!
Quote: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat Hits Stores Today!
New York, NY February 2nd, 2010 – Today ushers in a new day for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise with the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. The game, published by Viva Media and bitComposer Games, hits stores today, February 2nd, 2010. CEO Carlo Voelker commented, “The ‘Call of Pripyat’ is the third installment in the highly acclaimed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. With its dedicated and loyal fanbase, we anticipate a strong launch.”
Players will live the life of undercover agent Major Degtyarev, an experienced stalker, as he eats, drinks, and sleeps in the Zone. Call of Pripyat is non-linear game play at its best, as the player seeks allies and makes enemies in the treacherous and fragile balance between rival factions, bandits, and mercenaries.
Where most first person shooters rely on relentless action to engage their players, Call of Pripyat goes in an entirely different direction, allowing for long moments of silence amidst a desolate landscape and an ever changing vista. The environment is dynamic: day and night alternate and are filled with thunderstorms and sunshine, and the game's artificial intelligence interacts with itself beyond the peripheral of the player. The game truly takes on a life of its own.
Game Details:
• Photorealistic graphics depicting the Zone, a contaminated area neighboring the Chernobyl disaster site.
• New story, a number of unique characters.
• Over 70 custom missions and extended side quests
• New monsters: Chimera and Burer.
• New A-Life system, created using the players’ best-liked elements of the first two games in series.
• Sleep function added into the game.
• New player’s interface.
• Possibility to continue the game after completion in freeplay mode.
• The game is developed on X-Ray engine v.1.6
• Supports DirectX 11.0
•S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:Call of Pripyat Collector’s Edition includes an area map, tech-tree poster, and stickers!
Platform: Win PC
Price: $39.99
Genre: Shooter/RPG
Release Date: February 2nd, 2010
Minimum System Requirements: Windows XP/SP 2, Intel Pentium 4.22 GHz/AMD Athlon XP 2200+, 768 MB RAM/6GB free hard drive space, nVidia GeForce 5900/ATI Radeon 9600 XT 128 MB VRAM, DirectX 9.0 compatible

GSC just sent out the new February 2010 Call of Pripyat Calendar. While getting this new calendar I noticed something buried deep within the trash folder of my email client, the lost January Calendar that I never knew was sent to me (I thought they forgot!). Quote: You've been there since the start with Shadow of Chernobyl, alternating between exuberant praise of GSC Gameworld's bravery and vision, and paroxysmal despair at the lack of bug-testing, and so the one big question you have left is the one most prominently bequeathed by Call of Pripyat's storied predecessors. Is it broken?
Amazingly the answer, this time, is no. That's not to say it's completely flawless - I experienced a couple of crashes to the desktop, and co-ordinating anything with the slightly clumsy AI actions can still be a grind. But essentially the experience is bug-free.
STALKER. Unbroken, without being modded. If you're a fan, this is basically what you've been waiting for - a fully functioning STALKER which combines the best aspects of Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky and polishes them to a slightly creaky charm.
Only the slight sensation of datedness prevents this from scoring higher, and no doubt once the mods start flowing the value for money will get even better. But there's plenty here to keep the faithful feeling extremely optimistic about the prospect of a proper sequel. And there's still nothing out there quite like STALKER.
They gave it a respectable 8/10

February second!
That's still a long way away, but I'm waiting patiently.
Only HELL YEA!
im waiting for the special edition personally.
Is it actually going to be a zippo or a low quality lighter?
feb 2nd to things to look forward to now, stalker cop and shortly followed by lost
also GSC should take this into note:
despite the fact that only Russian version has been released, people buy it and play with translations from the internet. Not so good business decision.
the release here in germany was ~16.nov...
i was quite confused when i got to know that cop will be released in feb 2010, actually still after i looked at my special edition of stalker call of prypjat....
special edition isnt that good for me. bandana is low quality and the lighter even more!
They are just delaying international edition too much or they have rushed with Russian version too much and need some time to fine tune it. Never the less, I'm anticipating its release
lol
i am not excited...
cause i have serbian version(i was part of the team)
only good stuff is that my char will speak english...
we are now on serbian megamod...
I allready finish the game in polish language
yay im so lucky my bro lives in Russia and gave me the Russian version
Have already the official Polish version since more than month ago...
came out in ger about 4 weeks after the russian release.I think gsc didnt want to take any risks for the ww market.but this time they were too cautionious.cop 1.6.00 rus was nearly fully stable exept 1 bug with the ship artefact in zaton.1.6.01 still has this bug but otherwise no single ctd in 3 playthroughs.this was impossible with cs.
i have the russinan version, i swear, the game rocks but i hate to dissappoint you guys that the main story can be finished in a day or two, the game is mostly made up of side quests which are actually quiet fun and rewarding, wonder if bb code works here but i'll try (i'm not sure if it's right), dont read on, it's a spoiler
[spoiler]
Theres a mission for the trader on the second floor of SKADOVSK (i think it'll be called so 'cause names don't translate, it's the safeSHIP where the bosses of stalkers AND bandits stay together and they fight only outside the ship) you give the scientists in the bunker in jupiter three veles detectors(i think, the best detector) then you go back to zaton (the first map) and wait there for like a week (gametime) then you go to the trader on the second floor and whatever you do don't help the bandits leader(sultan) and then you'll talk to beard and he'll give you the prototype detector , dont remember the name, which detects where artefacts are, has a bigger range, AND SHO)WS WHICH AND WHERE ANOMALYS ARE!, you also get 1,500 after you talk to the trader on the second floor, but keep a spare veles detector cause it's really hard to see the artefact on the SVAROVSK(eurika! i think,)
[/spoiler]
All ready got it and bored of it XD

Yep, and all can be high except for the dx11 stuff!
yep but i get weird frame drop when i shoot water and look the splash
I want to get a 2gb 5890 to run it at DX11 and see all the detailed bumpmapping and shadows, but alas, on DX10 with everything at high it gets 10 FPS.
Still looks great on lower settings, but I'm worried about the size of my penis.

About S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat takes PC gamers once again into the deadly area surrounding the Chernobyl nuclear reactor explosion of 1986. Cordoned off by the military, this highly contaminated “Zone” is scoured by treasure hunters known as s.t.a.l.k.e.r.s, who search the irradiated lands for unique artifacts. In the role of Agent Alexander Degtyarev, the player must go undercover as a S.T.A.L.K.E.R., investigating the mysterious disappearance of five military helicopters while standing against various S.T.A.L.K.E.R. groups.
Using the time-tested X-Ray graphic engine developed by GSC, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat skilfully combines first-person shooter action with role-playing elements in a realistic post-atomic world. The grim realities of this deadly environment are underscored by the many desolate industrial ruins, reproduced using aerial pictures and the developers’ own photographs. Mutants, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. groups, and lethal anomalies are everywhere, posing a constant threat to the player. The thrilling story is advanced through numerous quests, taking gamers through such diverse areas as a secret military base, the Jupiter factory site, and the titular city of Pripyat. The player decides how far to explore and which tasks they undertake – freedom determines the gameplay. Other S.T.A.L.K.E.R. groups respond to the player in a friendly or hostile manner, depending on the group to which they belong. In this ever-dangerous world, the player is supported by various weapon systems and upgrades, as well as several types of equipment.
