STALKER Delayed Once Again - Official News
Posted by: Blumenkohl on 02-04-2005 @ 15:20 - Source: THQ
This News Item has been viewed 3,301 times
A few months ago StalkerFiles.com reported that the official THQ website had set Winter 2005 as the release date for the game, hinting at a possible delay. Soon after, THQ and GSC changed back to May 2005 and confidently stated the game would be arriving May 2005, despite a string of negative previews doubting the polish and release date for the game...

On 02 February, 2005 THQ and GSC announced that STALKER would indeed not be reaching shelves by the promised May 2005. The reason? The game needs more time.

Here's a quote from the official site:

Quote:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl will not hit its previously planned May release date. According to GSC's Oleg Yavorksy, GSC stated, "We're happy THQ has afforded us more time to work on this. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is a huge, genre-defining game and we're going to make sure we release the game when it's reached our own very high standards, and those expected by our fans, and not before."

Although no new release date or time frame was given, our sources in THQ indicate S.T.A.L.K.E.R. may not reach shelves until at least the end of summer or possibly Fall 2005. An official time frame for the expected release should be announced soon.

Despite the disheartening news, fans can be comforted with the fact that this can only mean good for STALKER in terms of the final product, knowing the track record of RPG games which usually don't get enough polish time and end up quite buggy out of the box.

Foley, i agree, THQ shouldn't plan to release the game from when it's far from finished, and say that it will be released soon, there are many fans that is giving up hope for S.T.A.L.K.E.R, since they are promissing to much frown.

bad news for sure...
i hope it's for good,as they say...
there are some great expectations and they must keep their promises and release a piece of art-that's what i'm expecting for...
from that view,i think one little delay (and another one and so goes on,some might say) is just for the good of the game...
besides,it's not the only game in the world,so i say let them do their work as they have to do and cross your fingers the next announcement is real...
until then, keep playing FarCry or HL2 or whatever you like!

What's funny is, not long ago, a friend of mine declared he was refusing to buy HL2, because it had been delayed too much. Instead, he was going to buy S.T.A.L.K.E.R, because it hadn't been delayed. Gee, if only he hadn't skipped town, I could point and make fun at him! smile

Anyways, this game will rock when it finally arrives, we all need to just relax and play something else for a while. (this is one of the rare*****les I can barely wait for!)

HL2 has been delayed for a long time and when it was released the people who gave up hope bought it.

Oh, shut it You know you're going to end up buying it and there's really nothing you can do that will affect the developers. While devs (usually) respect their fans and gamers, they aren't under any obligation to release the game whenever the players want. The longer it's in development, the better it will be.
