World Wide Edition will not use STARForce - Miscellaneous
  Posted by: FFxSTALKERx on 09-03-2008 @ 10:26 - Source: http://stalkerhispano.com/noticias/la-edici-n-mund
This News Item has been viewed 4634 times!
As some of you know, certain parts of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Community (and the general gaming community) are not big fans of the STARForce Protection system. It has been known to literally kill computers and cause other problems. STALKER Hispano is reporting that the World Wide Editions of Clear Sky will be using the TAGES Protection System (The Russian versions use STARForce).

There is still no definite word on the North American Version of the game, but rumor has it it will be using the SecureRom Protection System

Thanks to Dade for sending us this information.

Yeah and we, russians, are having problems with starforce...
this *****ing ***** ruins the system complete, we need to make a civil action to the court about this *****, because it makes the system stuck while checking making it not multi-tasking, locking-up all other proccesses, causing bsods and game errors...
how lucky are you...

#2:

I can't say that don't feel sorry for you guys, because that would be a lie. But honestly, from what I've heard STARForce is more of a nuisance than it's helping. Especially now that you mentioned system lock-ups and *****.

Whatever happened to the good old-fashioned protection systems? >_>

And if STARForce is so irreversibly bad, then why don't they do something about their product? Jeez, finally I have something to thank Spain for.

Hang in there, russians! Salvation will come to you as well!

to be honest, protection systems can go and suck their brothers off when it comes to forcible installations, it should be the CD itself (or DVD to be a total *****) that contains the protection system, and also when corporate bully companies (LIKE ATARI!!! HOW DARE THEY SEND ME FALSE LETTERS DEMANDING MONEY OFF ME FOR DOWNLOADING THE WITCHER?!) believe its compulsory to include these system hogging programs.

***** them, (FILE FRONT I APOLOGIES FOR MY SWEARING BUT I HATE PUBLISHING COMPANIES, THEY HAVE TRIED TO ***** ME OVER ONCE TO MANY AS OF TODAY!!!!), ***** them all to hell.

If i like and approve of a game i will *****ing pay for it, ESPECIALLY AS I CANNOT RETURN A GAME IF I DO NOT LIKE IT!!
the last game this happened to me was with crysis, great demo, ***** game.
nothing more then 3 (at most 4) good levels.
screw paying forty quid for that again, screw that brothers.

Peace all, and to hell with pushy protection systems, and TO HELL WITH ATARI!!

x

I agree with #4. But IF you necessarily must use a damn protection system, please, PLEASE, don't let it be STARForce >_>

Screw paying for stuff. When I go to a restaurant and the food is crappy, I obviously run away without paying. I steal cars too- crappy cars that arent worth paying for. After all, I cant just drive back and return them, Ill get arrested. I would if I could.

...right, thats not quite the same thing mate.
thats stealing something that personally belongs to something, a downloaded game is a copy, does not exist so to speak.

Peace.

Ummmmm. It's still stealing. Or maybe not in your country, I dont know.

But maybe if you guys actually paid for the games, they wouldnt be so buggy and half-a$$ed. And maybe PC gaming wouldnt be a dying breed resting on the hope of steam.

hey look, i dont know about allot of people but when i download a game -
i like it i buy it, if i do not, i delete it its that simple.

(but on this occasion i did not touch The Witcher, that game is a pile of balls
before i even wanted to try it).

Peace.
